Tell Me Everything is the all-new, colourful, comical, and occasionally cringe-inducing teen drama from ITVX.
Set in the everyday English town of Welwyn Garden City, the six-part series perfectly captures the messy and often #awks energy of teenage life, while also sensitively dealing with weightier themes such as sexual identity, racism, and mental health.
Returning to Sixth Form after the summer break, the show follows a group of friends as they navigate the highs and lows of college life – from identity crises and disastrous house parties, to romance in the rave and dancing naked in a fountain.
Ultimately the show is about that chaotic period of existence where you transition into adulthood – sometimes too slowly, sometimes too suddenly, sometimes, somehow, both at the same time.
JONNY
Jonny is the life and soul of the party: funny, confident and unafraid to get naked in public. He’s also suffering an undiagnosed bout of depression, and when his dad dies, he loses the only person he could confide in. Left emotionally vulnerable, he turns to a wild mix of coping mechanisms – some more ill-advised than others…
NEVE
A rebellious girl contained in a strict Nigerian home, Neve is a free spirit yearning to come into her own. Her fiery nature is ignited by her best friends, Jonny and Louis, who she looks out for with an angel’s grace. Nevertheless, her journey – through cultural expectations, romance and raves – ends up being one of supreme self discovery.
LOUIS
Louis is the opposite of a stereotypical ‘wild’ teen. He doesn’t drink, has no interest in drugs and gives off zero teen boy bravado. Instead he’s a sweet, considerate, sensitive soul. He’s also genuinely hilarious, without ever quite realising it – his ongoing quest to lose his virginity being a perfect – ridiculously awkward – case in point.
MEI
A new space and a new face, Mei arrives in Welwyn Garden City with a makeover and a point to prove. Invested in setting up a new identity to empower herself, Mei’s foundation in the town is built upon lies. She’s not simply rebellious but self destructive and infectious to others. Will she reveal her true face?
ZIA
Blonde bombshell, social media star and seemingly the nicest person in the world, Zia surely has it all (for a college student in Welwyn Garden City anyway). But like any teenager, she has her insecurities too – it’s just she’s learnt to hide them well, as her flirtations with Louis – a masterclass in awkward teenage miscommunication – reveal.
REGAN
A young lady with an old soul, Regan is Zia’s best friend. She’s a carer for her incapacitated grandmother, and also happens to be one of the only gay women in town. Her control-freak nature sees her preoccupied with her domestic duties, with little time to enjoy life – until council-appointed carer Jaz turns up, that is, to get the party started.
Tell Me Everything deals with a range of contemporary talking points, from the effects of social media on our lives to the unique challenges we face in dating and relationships today.
We caught up with Lauryn Ajufo, who plays Neve in the show, along with writer and podcaster Tolly T; culture writer and broadcaster Chanté Joseph; and content creator and TV host Eman Kellam, to explore these further in a three part series titled ‘Tell Me Everything You Know About…’.
