Denzel Curry

Miami

Denzel Curry had a pretty good year. He dropped his album, Imperial, back in March, XXL named him a member of the 2016 Freshman class in June, and his Black Metal Terrorist tour kicked off in September. Curry broke out in 2011 after a string of mixtapes caught the ears of Earl Sweatshirt and SpaceGhostPurpp, who brought him into Raider Klan. Curry parted ways with SpaceGhost in 2013 and released his debut LP, Nostalgic 64. He continues to pursue his solo rap career repping Miami and Carol City because of the draw of the "people and the energy around it."

Venue

Curry's favorite music venue, Grand Central, used to bring out lots of bigger artists, including Machine Gun Kelly, Waka Flocka, A$AP Rocky, and the Underachievers, to play its bottom floor, while the top floor hosted the Peachfuzz party on Fridays. Grand Central closed down last year, but the Peachfuzz party is alive and well, now taking place each month at the Basement Miami in the Edition Hotel.

Destination

Curry prefers to chill at his place with his friends, but if you are looking for a place to go out to on the weekend, Curry says to hit up Wood Tavern. The Wynwood bar offers cocktails, craft beers, and a dance floor. The spot does not have a kitchen, but the Pancho Taco food truck, which serves street-style Mexican food, sits right outside.

Dining Out

Curry wouldn't go so far as to call himself a health nut, but he has been experimenting lately with a vegan diet. Choices in Miami carries a good selection of vegan and organic food, and Curry also likes the Beehive Juice Bar, where he gets soups, juices, and smoothies. "I'm starting to notice a change in my body," he says. "My body feels good."
