Shy Glizzy

D.C.

Shy Glizzy dropped his debut mixtape, Streets Hottest Youngin, in 2011, but he really got onto people's radars in 2014, thanks to his Billboard-charting song "Awwsome." Things have looked good for Glizzy since then, as he's continued to release new music that puts him on the map beyond his D.C. hometown and he even nabbed a spot in the 2015 XXL Freshman class. His most recent tape, Young Jefe 2, came out this July, and he's already back to making new music for another project. Watch for that toward the end of the year.

Venue

Glizzy doesn't catch a ton of shows nowadays, but he has fond memories of making it out to the Howard Theater, located in Northwest D.C. "I like that it's historic," he says. "I know how important it is to my culture." He hasn't played there yet, but one day he'd like to be able to recommend coming to a show at Howard Theater—when he's on the stage.

Destination

Glizzy likes to be lowkey about usual hangouts, but if someone were new to D.C., he'd tell that person to head for Pinstripes. The Georgetown bar offers the usual food and drink, but it also boasts a bowling alley and bocce ball court. Consider this your go-to spot when you want to put an active twist on your night out.

Dining Out

Whether you are looking for a good brunch spot or a place to grab a late dinner, Glizzy's got one suggestion for you: Oohh's and Aahh's. "They put love into their food," Glizzy says. If you're hungry, he suggests the fried chicken and waffles, and if you're extra hungry, throw in a side of macaroni and cheese.
